We’re a small and friendly museum where you can relive the glorious days of the steam railway. The museum is home to George Stephenson’s ‘Billy’, a forerunner of the world-famous Rocket and the world’s third oldest surviving steam engine, as well as a range of fascinating locomotives, both steam and diesel. With a transport themed dressing up area, and fun events and activities for all ages. Heritage train rides operate on Sundays and Bank Holidays, as well as Thursdays during school holidays.

Prices: Entry to the museum is free. Fee applies for train rides: Under 5s free, Adult tickets £8*, Concessions £6* (child 5-17 years, 60+ years, and students with a valid student ID card). Family £17* (adults and 2 children). *includes voluntary donation
